14/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), Josef Aschbacher, announced on Tuesday 12 July that he had been mandated by the ESA Council to formally terminate the currently suspended cooperation with the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, on the ExoMars Rover and Surface Platform mission. This decision was taken because of the continuing Russian invasion of Ukraine and the resulting EU sanctions (see EUROPE 12901/12). The Director General said that further information would be provided on Wednesday 20 July on the follow-up to the mission with new partners. (PH)
