11/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) launched on Monday 11 July a public consultation on a draft supervisory statement on differential pricing practices. Its objective is to strengthen consumer protection by preventing unfair treatment of consumers and to promote greater convergence in the supervision of differential pricing practices. The idea is to ensure that consumer harm is prevented through proper product oversight and governance processes. In particular, the statement looks at ‘price walking’, where premiums are increased at the time of renewal based on an analysis of the characteristics specific to a particular consumer. Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the consultation paper until Friday 7 October. See the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/2kw (AD)
