EU Member States give green light to amendment of International Health Regulations at World Health Assembly

The EU is ready to approve the amendment to the 2005 International Health Regulations, an amendment required to give more powers to the WHO for preparedness and response to future pandemics, as part of the future global agreement or instrument being negotiated for adoption in 2024 (see EUROPE B12921A16).

The EU is a strong proponent of a future legally binding international treaty on pandemics.
