15/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 15 March, the High-Level Group on Gender Equality in Sport presented an action plan for achieving gender balance in sport to the European Commission, Member States, and relevant sports organisations, according to a press release. “The actions were developed considering eight transversal topics and six thematic areas of engagement such as participation, media coverage or leadership”, adds the European Commission. The high-level group is composed of 15 former high-level athletes, politicians, members of European and international sports federations, and academics. It proposes recommendations on national budgets dedicated to sports and gender policies, on education and the raising of awareness on these issues, and on the hiring of sports coaches, which needs to be more open to women.
