The European Industrial Forum, a forum for exchange created in the framework of the EU’s industrial strategy, met on Friday 11 March to take stock of the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Feedback on the European action was generally positive.
The aim, explains the European institution in a press release, is to obtain information from Forum members on the impact of the war on European industrial activities. This is a first step in the coordination between economic operators, but also to guide the European Commission in future actions.
Forum members were “very supportive” of the measures already adopted and reaffirmed their willingness to work with the European Commission on future recommendations, including on non-EU supply chains.
In addition, the discussion focused on how European industries can help Ukraine and its citizens. In this context, the Commission highlighted the role of “EU Clusters Support Ukraine”, a forum created to strengthen the action of European industry to deliver humanitarian aid to Ukraine and help Ukrainian refugees among Member States.
A new meeting of the Forum is scheduled for Wednesday 16 March. (Original version in French by Pascal Hansens)
