14/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Azerbaijani Milli Majlis condemned, in a statement on Friday 11 March, the European Parliament’s resolution, adopted the day before, on the destruction of cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh (see EUROPE 12908/19). Calling the resolution “biased and directed against Azerbaijan”, the National Assembly said the text distorted the realities of the “30-year period of occupation of Azerbaijani lands”. “Only devised to mislead the international community, this resolution could safely be referred to as ‘yet another collapse of the European democracy’”, the Assembly warns. “Practical steps are being taken towards assessment of the damage inflicted upon all the religious and cultural monuments and sites – including those that pertain to the Christian religion – in the formerly occupied territories, registration of those facts and restoration of the harmed monuments and sites”, the Milli Majlis also explained (https://aeur.eu/f/ra ).
