14/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – A public consultation is underway, until midnight on 2 June, to simplify and improve the implementation of EU rules on the restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment to meet the challenges of waste management and ensure better protection of health and the environment. The Commission’s initiative to revise Directive 2012/19/EU is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022. For these devices to be suitable for the circular economy, they must be free of the most harmful chemicals when dismantled, for the benefit of people and the environment.
