07/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 7 March, the European Commission approved the Luxembourg regional aid map, valid from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2027. The revised guidelines, which were adopted by the Commission on 19 April 2021 and entered into force on 1 January 2022, allow Member States to help Europe’s least favoured regions to catch up and reduce disparities. Regions covering up to 7.50% of the population of Luxembourg will be eligible for regional investment aid under the derogation provided for in Article 107(3) of the Treaty. To address regional disparities, Luxembourg has designated two non-predefined ‘c’ zones, one consisting of two municipalities (Dudelange and Bettembourg) and the other consisting of three (Wiltz, Winseler and Kiischpelt) (6.78% of the population).
