07/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – The eighth round of negotiations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will resume on Tuesday 8 February, the European External Action Service announced on Monday 7 February. This cycle, which had resumed on 27 December, has been on hiatus since 28 January. Participants returned to their capitals for consultation and instruction. “Participants will continue discussions on the prospect of a possible return of the United States to the JCPOA and on how to ensure the full and effective implementation of the agreement by all parties”, the EEAS said. For the Service’s political director, a “spirit of compromise [is needed] to return to full implementation” of the agreement. “Given the various undesirable trends undermining the JCPOA, it is necessary to conclude these negotiations quickly”, he warned.
