13/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – Within the framework of the European Year of Youth 2022, on Thursday 13 January, the European Commission published a proposal for a recommendation to facilitate international volunteering activities for young people through the European Solidarity Corps and other national programmes. In particular, the proposal calls on Member States to ensure that all young people have effective access to cross-border volunteering activities, to develop a legislative framework to ensure the health and safety of young volunteers, to promote a high level of quality in relation to the organisation of volunteering activities, and to raise awareness of volunteering activities. The initiative aims to “break down the final barriers to cross-border mobility” for young people, said EU Youth Commissioner Mariya Gabriel in a statement.
