EU calls for universal non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and restrictions on certain conventional weapons

In conclusions on Monday 15 November, the Council of the EU stressed the need for the full implementation and universalisation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

In the run-up to the 10th Review Conference of the Parties to the NPT, to be held in New York from 4 to 28 January 2022, the EU Council called on all States that have not yet done so to accede to the Treaty as non-nuclear-weapon states and, pending their accession, to comply with its provisions.
