Spain calls for flexibilities to allow Member States to decouple electricity market prices

Spain sent a non-paper to EU Member States ahead of the meeting of energy ministers on Tuesday 26 October, detailing its proposals to tackle rising energy prices at EU level. These include decoupling electricity market prices and setting a maximum price for fossil gas. 

“A common European approach is our preference for the whole European energy internal market. [...]However, in absence of such European response, the Commission could provide Member States flexibilities to adopt measures...
