18/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced on Monday 18 October that they have signed an agreement to provide €1.5 billion in support of alternative fuel infrastructure projects by the end of 2023 (see EUROPE 12807/6). The package, which is part of the ‘Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility’, will complement existing grants within the EU and, according to the EIB, “will attract additional financing or equity for projects and companies”. “The mechanism brings us one step closer to achieving our targets – one million charging points by 2025 and 3.5 million of them by 2030”, summarised the Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean.
