MEPs speak out against anti-abortion law in Texas and condemn further backsliding in reproductive rights

“Our bodies, our choices, our rights.” This claim rung out once again on Thursday, 7 October, in the European Parliament, in Strasbourg, where MEPs condemned the adoption of Senate Bill 8 by the State of Texas in the United States.

The law, which came into force in September, bans all abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy—news that echoes the backsliding in sexual and reproductive rights currently observed in the EU (see EUROPE B12745A7).
