30/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 30 September, the European Commission opened a public consultation to obtain input regarding its plan to update the European regulatory framework for EU population statistics. The new framework should make it possible to bring together demographic, census and migration data, which “are currently collected from the Member States separately, with different frequencies and legal bases”, according to the Commission, which will present its proposal for a regulation in the second quarter of 2022. Last April, the European institution opened its roadmap to contributions for one month (see EUROPE 12694/21) without attracting much interest. The consultation launched on Thursday will remain open until 23 December. It is aimed in particular at national statistical institutes and competent national authorities, as well as at administrative data providers. To access: https://bit.ly/3F7EB0L (AC)
