14/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The 17th consultation meeting between the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was held on Tuesday 14 September by video conference. Both parties were represented by the EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis and the Bruneian Minister of Economy and Finance, H.E. Dato Dr Amin Liew Abdullah. Together, the two leaders endorsed the EU/ASEAN work programme for trade and investment. They also agreed to make progress in defining the contours of a future trade agreement between the EU and ASEAN. In December, ASEAN had become a strategic partner of the EU, paving the way for more regular discussions (see EUROPE 12613/26). See the joint statement: https://bit.ly/397EH9S (LM)
