09/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – Two-thirds of Europeans eat fish several times a month, according to a Eurobarometer survey (https://bit.ly/2Vwpyf4 ) on the consumption of fish and aquaculture products, the results of which were published on Thursday 9 September. The Covid-19 crisis does not seem to have significantly affected consumption patterns in the EU, although a slight decrease (-6 percentage points) has been observed since 2018. Quality and price remain the most important purchasing factors. The decision to buy seafood is mainly based on the appearance of the product, for 58% of European consumers, followed by the price (54%). The small proportion of Europeans who have reduced their fish consumption cite financial reasons as the main reason, either because fish has become more expensive (33%) or because their financial situation has changed (25%).
