02/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – Six EU-funded films have been nominated for the 78th edition of the Venice International Film Festival, which opened on Wednesday 1 September. Three of these films will compete in the Orizzonti category, which is dedicated to “innovative and artistic works”, said the European Commission. The films are 107 Mothers by Peter Kerekes, White Building by Kavich Neang and Wela by Jakrawal Nilthamrong. The films Costa Brava by Mounia Akl and La fée des Roberts by Léahn Vivier-Chapas will compete in the Orizzonti Extra and Orizzonti Short Films categories. More than 290,000 euros were invested through the Creative Europe programme (MEDIA strand) in order to support the development, co-production and international distribution of these six productions, said the Commission.
