02/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Investment Bank (EIB) announced on Wednesday 1 September the establishment of a ‘Climate and Environment Advisory Council’ to provide recommendations on the EIB Group’s activities in relation to its climate and environmental action ambitions. The ten-member body is chaired by Christine Lagarde, the current President of the European Central Bank (ECB), and includes former European Commissioner for Climate Action Connie Hedegaard, Solar Impulse founder Bertrand Picard, and Jos Delbeke, professor at the European Institute in Florence (EUI) and the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL). At its first meeting, the Advisory Council discussed the EIB Group’s climate roadmap and, in particular, the EIB’s activities to support adaptation to the impacts of climate change. (DG)
