25/08/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Saturday 31 July, the European Commission published its decision to launch the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS), an IT tool with which to implement the Clinical Trials Regulation from 31 January 2022. According to Commissioner for Health Stella Kyriakides, the regulation, when fully implemented, will ensure greater protection for clinical trial participants while further strengthening support for human clinical trials. From 31 January 2023, the regulation will be mandatory and by 31 January 2025, all ongoing trials approved under the current Clinical Trials Directive will have to comply with the new regulation (see EUROPE 12536/13).
