EU Member States agreed on 12 July on the draft conclusions on the action plan for the development of organic production.
On Monday 19 July, the EU Agriculture Ministers will therefore adopt the conclusions on this subject without problems (see EUROPE 12759/5).
Member States generally support the Commission's proposals in this action plan, which aims to achieve 25% of agricultural land in organic production by 2030.
The conclusions stress that “each Member State must make its contribution to the collective effort”.
The text of the conclusions highlights the need to take into account the “specificities and different starting points” of the Member States “as well as the successes already achieved” when defining targets for, and interventions in support of organic farming and production in national strategic plans under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) “and in the voluntary national action plans” on organic production.
