EU denounces closure of Apple Daily

23/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – The spokesperson for the European External Action Service denounced the closure of the Beijing-critical Hong Kong newspaper Apple Daily on Wednesday 23 June, saying that it, “clearly shows how the National Security Law imposed by Beijing is being used to stifle freedom of the press and the free expression of opinions”. “Its closing seriously undermines media freedom and pluralism, which are essential for any open and free society”, he added, warning...
