On Monday 26 April, the European Commission welcomed victories of two films co-financed by the EU at the 2021 Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles: The Father, by French director Florian Zeller, won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay (by Christopher Hampton and Florian Zeller, based on Zeller’s play) and Best Actor, awarded to Sir Anthony Hopkins.
