19/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) adopted an opinion by Loïg Chesnais-Girard (PES, France), on Friday 19 March, in which he calls for an increase in the Brexit Adjustment Reserve from €5.3 billion to €6 billion. It advocates for one billion for the fisheries sector and to exempt eligible projects from EU State Aid rules. The Committee also calls for a review of the rules for allocating funds to fisheries activities to better take into account the situation of fishermen and not the national situation. It proposes as well to make actions to limit the impact of the UK exit on the Erasmus+ university exchange programme eligible for financial support from the Brexit Adjustment Reserve. (PH)
