16/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU formally adopted on Tuesday 16 March the Regulation on combating the dissemination of terrorist content online, which aims to remove such content from the Internet quickly. The rules will apply to hosting service providers offering services in the EU, whether or not they have their principal place of business in the Member States. Voluntary cooperation with service providers will continue, but additional tools are given to Member States to enforce the rapid removal of terrorist content. The competent authorities of the Member States will have the power to issue take-down orders to service providers to remove or block access to terrorist content in all Member States. Service providers will then have to remove or disable access to the content within 1 hour. Link to the regulation: https://bit.ly/3bPPCa8 (SP)
