ECR Group in European Parliament gains an MEP 

02/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The ECR Group in the European Parliament announced on Tuesday, 2 March, that Italian MEP Vincenzo Sofo has joined its ranks, which brings the number of members of the conservative group to 63. The Italian, a member of the Lega, was elected in 2019 and was one of three Italian candidates suspended pending the departure of the British MEPs. He officially took office on 1 February 2020. The MEP’s priority is the Conference on the Future of Europe, which he views as an opportunity to “correct the mistakes of the European project”, notably by strengthening nation states. (PH)
