18/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – On 15 December Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe (47 member states), and Ángel Gurría, Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD - 37 member states) signed a renewed co-operation agreement in the context of the 60th anniversary of the OECD (https://bit.ly/3h15DuN ). This protocol updates an agreement dating back to 1962, which led, inter alia, to the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters (covers 111 countries to date). It sets out the areas in which the two organisations wish to intensify their cooperation by using their comparative advantages to add value to their respective work: promoting good governance, combating money laundering and corruption, promoting gender equality and sustainable development, combating cybercrime, and providing a framework for artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
