Brussels, 20/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has signed contribution agreements for the management and implementation of two European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) projects with the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR), the Commission announced on Friday 20 November. These are the ESSOR project, which aims to provide a software-defined radio (SDR) architecture for military purposes, and the European Medium Altitude and Long Endurance Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (MALE RPAS), which will be operated worldwide, in particular to support intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance missions. Subject to the final selection of projects, the MALE programme could receive up to €100 million and ESSOR up to €37 million from EDIDP. (CG)
