13/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – Following the European Parliament rapporteurs (see EUROPE 12600/35), almost twenty MEPs from various political groups have mobilised to ask for country by country reporting (CBCR) to be put on the agenda of the next Competitiveness Council on 19 November. In a letter sent on Thursday 12 November to the German Ministers of Finance, Economy and Justice, they asked the German Presidency of the EU Council to support the rapid adoption of a ‘general approach’ by Member States on this text, which would require companies to make certain accounting data public, such as their revenue. They too consider that Austria’s change of position, now in favour of this text, creates an opportunity to obtain the majority required for its adoption and recall that it is the Presidency’s responsibility to take account of this type of political development.
