05/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – In a press release issued on Wednesday, 4 November, the EU and Pakistan emphasised that they wished to reflect together on the current state of the peace process in Afghanistan and to encourage its continuous pursuit. They notably welcomed the launch of the process of direct intra-Afghan negotiations, judging that the Afghan government and the Taliban must make earnest efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability. Stressing that continued violence was in flagrant contradiction with regional aspirations for peace and complicated the fight against Covid-19, the EU and Pakistan called on the parties to observe a lasting humanitarian ceasefire and to strive towards a complete elimination of violence. They also expressed their readiness to engage in constructive initiatives that concern cross-border and intra-regional activities as well as initiatives that promote the region’s economic integration and development: https://bit.ly/3mQlv5c (CG)
