Future ban on lead shot in wetlands, four ‘pro-hunting’ MEPs defeated

30/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament’s Committee on Environment, on Thursday 29 October, prevented four MEPs’ plan to block the ban on lead shot in EU wetlands under the REACH regulation, a ban on which Member States finally agreed in September(see EUROPE B12552A9). The objection, put forward by Alexander Bernhuber (EPP, Austria), Ondřej Knotek (Renew Europe, Czech Republic) and Andrey Slabakov (ECR, Bulgaria), was rejected by 42 votes (33 in favour).
