The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has proposed raising the European Union’s target for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for 2030 from at least 40% to “at least 55%” (see EUROPE B12559A7) on Wednesday 16 September, during her first State of the Union address.
