16/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The 5th Global Biodiversity Outlook Report - the UN's ‘Global Biodiversity Outlook 5’- released on Monday 14 September, highlights that humanity is at a crossroads and points to eight transitions that need to be made to slow and then halt the increasing decline of nature. It has been hailed by the German Federal Environment Minister, Svenja Schulze, as “a useful guide for decision-makers that outlines where changes can be made to ensure more environmentally sustainable business practices, ecosystem preservation and habitat protection”. She was particularly pleased that the report makes a possible link between biodiversity loss and pandemics. “The global community can now show that it is learning from the current pandemic by adopting robust guidelines for action for the coming decades”.
