24/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, medical equipment, tests, personal protective equipment against COVID-19, ventilators and medicines are being transported to the Dutch Caribbean islands, the European Commission announced on Friday 24 April. The Netherlands made the offer of assistance. The equipment, which will arrive by air and sea transport, is destined for Curaçao, Bonaire, Aruba, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius and Saba. The EU's Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) coordinates the delivery of aid. Transport costs are co-financed by the European Commission. Some of this aid has already reached its destination. These Dutch Caribbean islands are Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) associated with the EU. ((AN)
