The European Commission is inviting cultural actors receiving European financial support through the Creative Europe programme to present their work online, as the COVID-19 pandemic is preventing new artists from performing on stage or exhibiting their work to the public.
The European institution has therefore launched the #CreativeEuropeAtHome information campaign on social networks for this purpose.
"In these difficult times, we need culture, creativity and solidarity more than ever! (...) With this initiative, we aim to show and make accessible the rich and diverse online offer of our Creative Europe community", said the Commission for Culture, Mariya Gabriel in a press release on Friday 27 March.

On Thursday, the Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Education and Culture, Sabine Verheyen, considered it "imperative" that operators in the cultural sector, hit hard by the pandemic, should be able to benefit from emergency economic measures approved at European level, such as the CRII initiative mobilising European structural funds to support SMEs (see EUROPE 12455/4) and the relaxed state aid framework (see EUROPE 12450/7).
