24/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, European post-earthquake assistance to Croatia continues, the European Commission announced on Tuesday 24 March. EU Member State Lithuania and the candidate country Montenegro have offered blankets, tents, folding beds, and electric heaters in response to the Croatian authorities’ request for assistance from the European Commission (see EUROPE 12452/25). On his Twitter account, the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, thanked the governments of both countries, adding that “international solidarity is more important than ever at a time when the whole world is fighting COVID-19”. Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Slovenia have previously assisted Croatia. (AN)
