16/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, who was due to visit Ukraine for the first time in this capacity on Sunday 15 March, was forced to postpone his visit because of the COVID-19 outbreak and the measures taken to contain it, the European External Action Service announced the same day. "His intention remains to visit Ukraine as soon as possible" the EEAS said in its statement. Mr Borrell spoke by telephone to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, to inform him of the decision and discuss issues of mutual interest, adding that "Ukraine remains a priority partner for the EU". According to a Ukrainian official, Mr Borrell was scheduled to visit the country on 16 and 17 March. (CG)
