11/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will visit Greece again on Thursday 12 March, together with the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, to refine the announced aid plan for unaccompanied minor stranded as migrants on the Greek islands. A coalition of willing countries has expressed its readiness to receive between 1,000 and 1,500 under-age migrants. The Chair and the Commissioner should clarify these terms and conditions with their Greek counterparts. For his part, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, had a first telephone exchange on 9 March with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, on how to relaunch the 2016 EU-Turkey Declaration, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested on the same day that his country would continue not to protect the Greco-Turkish border until the 2016 pact is improved.
