06/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced, on Thursday 6 February, the launch of two new pilot actions with the aim of involving citizens more closely in the deployment of cohesion projects. Objectives: to improve citizens' "ownership" of cohesion policies and to "reconnect" citizens with the European decision-making process. Under the first pilot action, authorities managing EU funds will receive support from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to set up new initiatives to involve citizens. Under the second pilot action, the Commission will earmark EUR 250 000 of funding to support innovative ideas and initiatives to promote citizen engagement from the grassroots (small local associations).
