13/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – Finland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union is staying the course: it still intends to forward the draft regulation on the confidentiality of electronic communications to the Committee of Permanent Representatives on 22 November (see EUROPE 12364/2). According to our information, the technical meeting on 12 November on the latest compromise proposal detailed in our columns took place in a constructive atmosphere (see EUROPE 12367/17). It focused on the protection of children against sexual abuse, cookies, data retention and supervisory authorities. A final technical discussion is scheduled for 14 November. (SPj)
