08/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – Sweden’s Ylva Johansson finally received the green light from the coordinators of the European Parliament’s civil liberties committee on Tuesday, 8 October, after her written answers were deemed satisfactory by the majority of political groups. The Swedish woman, designated as Commissioner for Home Affairs, will thus not have to go through a second hearing. Groups such as the Greens/EFA had asked for details regarding sea rescues and agreements with non-Member States, questions that she had not necessarily had time to answer during her hearing on 1 October (see EUROPE 12339/1). Without being much more forceful in writing, “her case did not justify a rejection”, said a source from the group. (SP)
