20/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – In advance of the UN Climate Summit, SMEunited has insisted in a statement on Friday 20 September that the EU should not stand alone in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They say that it is essential that the EU's additional efforts are also reflected by "all industrialised countries". According to the organisation, "this is the only way to make real progress in implementing the Paris Agreement and to avoid any backlash against Europe's competitiveness", noting the further reduction in EU greenhouse gas emissions from 40% to 55%. The organisation wants the ‘Green Deal’ to take SMEs into account by providing the necessary technical assistance to support them in their transition to a circular and low-emission economy, as well as facilitating their access to finance.
