European Union is developing joint master’s programmes with Japan

The European Union and Japan are preparing to launch joint master’s programmes for 200 students after this summer. The news was revealed by the European Commission in a press release issued on 31 July.

This €9 million initiative, funded equally by both parties, follows a call for proposals launched in October 2018. A total of ten projects were presented by international consortia in association with prestigious universities.

Three master’s programmes were selected: the Master of Science in Imaging and Light in Extended Reality, promoted by Finland and Japan in association with Belgium and France; the Master in Advanced Robotics, coordinated by France and Japan and involving Italy and Poland; and the Master in History in the Public Sphere, coordinated by Hungary and Japan and involving Italy and Portugal.

On the European side, these joint master’s programmes will be funded under Erasmus Mundus, with a maximum of 64 scholarships being made available to the best students for each of the three programmes. (Original version in French by Sophie Petitjean)
