30/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – Outraged at the attack on a field hospital over the weekend on the road to Tripoli airport and a school, the spokesman for the European External Action Service recalled on Monday 29 July that these “civil infrastructures were protected by international law”. Four doctors and an ambulance driver were killed in the raid. “We remind all parties of their obligation to uphold international humanitarian law and we expect a thorough and independent investigation so that those responsible are held accountable”, the spokesman warned in a statement. He added that the “interest of the Libyan people must be put first by de-escalating the situation and resuming dialogue in order to identify a lasting political solution to the conflict” considering that the fighting in and around Tripoli had already caused too many casualties.
