At the Trade Council on Monday 27 May, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström informed EU ministers of her failure to engage the United States in trade negotiations limited to industrial products. Washington's solution could be a unilateral increase of its tariffs on cars to 10%, a European source at the end of the meeting noted.
