MEPs discussed the situation of the rule of law in Romania again on the evening of Monday 15 April in Strasbourg, which was brought back to the centre of attention by the controversy surrounding the candidacy of Laura Codruţa Kövesi for the post of European Prosecutor.
After a debate and a resolution adopted last November (see EUROPE B12136A2), elected officials debated it with the Commissioner of Justice, Věra Jourová, who noted “very serious setbacks in the country's rule of law”...
