18/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – EU High Representative Federica Mogherini said on Monday 18 March that of all the current regional crises, “the crisis in Yemen [was] perhaps on paper the easiest to [resolve]”. According to her, it requires “a lot of courage and confidence-building and political will to get out of the crisis, but it is not impossible to do so”. The Stockholm Agreement, signed in December between the Yemeni parties, is struggling to be put in place. At the end of the Foreign Affairs Council, Ms Mogherini explained that Europeans were trying to encourage or put pressure on the various parties and regional actors to make progress in resolving the crisis. In parallel with the Foreign Affairs Council, the E4 (Germany, France, Italy, United Kingdom) + Iran meeting on Yemen was held, Ms Mogherini said. (CG)
