Whistleblowers, Romanian Presidency of Council of the EU wants more flexibility on internal reporting of wrongdoing

Following an unsuccessful interinstitutional meeting, the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council intends to open a policy debate on the horizontal directive to protect whistleblowers at European level at the meeting of Member States' ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) on Wednesday 6 March. 

The Presidency will seek to obtain a margin of manoeuvre on the last major political point between the European Parliament and the Council: internal reporting of wrongdoing.
