Imposing distribution of foreign channels via a pay-TV package may be justified on grounds of public interest, considers Advocate General

A national measure requiring a foreign television channel to be broadcast only in pay-TV packages in order to limit the spread of hate speech to the public in the State affected is in line with EU law, Advocate General Saugmandsgaard Øe stated in his Opinion at the EU Court of Justice on Thursday 28 February (Case C-622/17).
