European Border and Coast Guard Agency will need to have 10,000 staff by 2027, according to Member States

On Wednesday 20 February, the Member States' ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) approved their position on the new mandate of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (formerly Frontex). 

After a partial mandate in December on the Agency's new missions in the field of returns and for cooperation with third countries other than the EU's immediate neighbourhood (see EUROPE 12154), Member States agreed on the progressive formation of a permanent corps of 10,000 agents by 2027,...
